Poems

Water Lilies, Claude Monet 1913,

MOMA, NYC

My poems are like children
the ones I have never had
nor ever will.

They are not anything less real for that.
They are of my flesh and loin,
alive even if not embraceable.

My poems are a lifeline,
thrown to a swimmer in a deep current,
struggling but indomitable.

They may go unnoticed,
more probably than less not.
Yet they are alive, for all that.
