Picasso
Picasso Self-Portrait, 1907
Narodni Gallery, Prague
There is a tilt in her lilt
that makes me change position
I want to see to where
her eyes and lips have shifted
like in a Picasso painting
-just in case I summon the courage to plant a kiss.
Is there symmetry in her face?
Is there discord?
Is there indifference?
Are there still traces of emotion that can unite us
or has the expression become one of blankness
from which our history is erased?
Picasso would want us to find each other
or so I think
we could be a prime subject
for a painting that
however disconnected its parts
would still present a harmony.
